This chawan was handbuilt using the kurinuki method of carving objects out of a solid piece of clay.

This handcrafted stoneware tea bowl is made of iron bearing clay, and is fired up to Cone 6
(about 2220F, 1220C) in electric oxidation. This clay is completely vitrified at this temperature newest an can safely be microwaved and washed in the dishwasher.
