A Vintage, Striking and Unique Japanese Millefiori Glass Necklace with Melon Shaped Beads - 1950s/60s

The Japanese style of Millefiori differs from Venetian in that the canes are smaller and more randomly placed, they are equally attractive to the connoisseur
In this necklace the distinctive black melon shaped beads are 18mm in length and alternate with red 12mm beads, I believe the end-caps and clasp to be bronze rather than brass (although I am unable to verify this)
These are hand made beads and will differ slightly, the clasp is particularly well made newest and attractive and closes with a satisfying ‘snap'

Everything has been cleaned, re-threaded and knotted onto heavy gauge black Griffin silk.
It is 22 1/2 inches / 57 cm long and weighs 115 gm
