The idea for a Wishbox came from a Japanese children's folktale. I read the story at Japanese language school when I was is the third grade. Within the box are several small strips of rice paper for writing wishes on. There's a waxed linen tie to keep the wishes private and secures the lid in it's place newest. The box is glazed with a matte black glaze. There are 3 gingko leaves, made with overlaying rutile slip. .The opening has been cut puzzle-like and the lid fits only one way. This box has been high fired and lightly soda glazed.
