This is a great example of folk art, which often takes utilitarian objects, like a crock, and elevates them into an art form. This unique hand painted older crock has been painted with oil or acrylic paints with colorful flowers on two opposing sides, joined along the bottom by grasses and lower flowers. Probably from the 1930s or 1940s, this may well be even older. It appears that there once was a signature on the bottom, but it has mostly worn away over the decades. The crock is a versatile size, measuring 5 3/8" high and 4 7/8" wide with an inside diameter of about 4 1/4" and an inside depth of 5 1/8". The crock is in good condition, with no cracks, no hairlines, no chips, and no fleabites. The paint is in fair condition, as there is a significant horizontal scratch on one side and some paint loss here and there. The top rim has had paint applied there, which gives the rim texture. Interesting and unusual piece.
