Sculpture measures around 8 3/4" tall, bottom wood base has 5" diameter. Not sure of wood type, but has nice grain and stain with 4 felt feet. Weight is nice at little under 2 pounds.
Sculpture is in good condition with difference in patina on the bronzed base. Called cold casting (Cold Casting is a term used to describe the process of mixing metal powder with a translucent casting resin like Smooth-cast® 325 and applying the mixture into a mold. The finished casting give the appearance and weight of solid newest metal)
From the great Wikipedia! The Homecoming is a Statue expressing the joy of reunion between a family when the sailor returns from a long period at sea. The statue honors the sacrifices made by families and members of all the sea services during long separations.
The Homecoming was sculpted by Stanley Bleifeld who also created the well known The Lone Sailor. The original work is located in the United States Navy Memorial in Washington. There are full sized copies in Town Point Park, Norfolk, Virginia Riverfront Park, North Charleston, South Carolina and Tuna Harbor Park, San Diego, California.
