The eyes have it. This unique vessel is both functional and beautifully visual. It was created on the potter's wheel, by a skilled professional craftsman, using the finest porcelain available. Once formed it was altered into an oval shape and the rimmed surface and base given contrived ripples, to initiate movement and interest in each. When partially firm, individual eye sockets were formed into the wall, then and eye was individually sculpted and placed within each. Lastly, matching handles were pulled and added onto each end, to provide ease of mobility, and a way to visually anchor the rim to the sides of the vessel.
After bisque firing, the piece was given a pale green celadon glaze coating and fired to 2381 degrees, rendering the porcelain hard, dense, and glass-like. It is now very durable and waterproof, and is microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe. The traditional celadon glaze pools slightly into recessed lines, darkens, and accentuates the textures.
