Product code: Rare Antique Knowles, Taylor, newest & Knowles (KTK) Hand-Painted Lotus Ware Porcelain
I've been collecting teacups a long time and this is my first time running across one of these newest beauties !! This is a rare and very beautiful small hand-painted porcelain tea cup. It is not hallmarked, but it has distinctive elements that indicate that it is Lotus Ware and was made in the late 19th Century, by Knowles, Taylor, & Knowles (KTK) of East Liverpool, Ohio. This piece is light weight, thin walled, and translucent. Its very ornate body has applied pale pink and white flowers, vines and yellow/orange butterflies that are styled in an Art Nouveau/Aesthetic Movement appliqué. This cup is rare because as not many Lotus Ware pieces were made during its short production period (between 1892 and 1896) and few pieces have survived until today because of their extreme delicacy).
