This is a very nice 1920-40 shelf trim like all the French country housewives made formerly to ornate their kitchen chimney mantel. This one has been hand-embroidered with traditional DMC red cotton on very rustic natural cream linen with raised "point de bourdon" scalloped border

It displays 9 different kinds of fruit : orange, cherries, pear, plums, grape, apple, quince, mirabelle and banana

Minor wear and holes like shown, one edge is crude cut with some damage, the other one is naively hand-embroidered with some rust marks in the corner

Measuring newest a large 58.26"L x 7.08"H (148cm long x 18cm at highest point)
