Batik Cotton Sarong Fabric Beautiful Fully Handmade Indonesian Batik Kain Tulis newest from Pekalongan Indonesia Batik Hand Drawn
A quality, old, hand made Batik from Pekalongan in Central Java. Tulis is the Indonesian word used to describe a batik that is totally handmade by "kanting" (pouring) the wax onto the material. It is not made by stamp or by mechanically printing onto the material. This is the traditional and most labour intensive way of making a batik.
Pekalongan is a famous batik centre on the north coast of Java where the Chinese first introduced synthetic dyes and floral motifs. This batik has a reed mat pattern background in brown and white with a floral and peacock design in brown and pink. It is in very good condition on good strong, soft cotton.
A Kain is a piece of material about 2 or a bit more metres in length. This one is 104cm high by 220cm long.
A superb example of Indonesian batik. newest
