Woman's Day Book of American Needlework, by Rose Wilder Lane. Rose was Laura Ingalls Wilder's daughter. Laura Ingalls Wilder, famous for her Little House books was also a strong advocate of female independence and self-reliance. She passed this strength to her daughter, Rose. Rose believed that the detailed patterns that had been created by so many women through so many generations were being lost as the male dominated pattern industry felt women weren't skilled enough to execute intricate patterns. Rose, in a effort to prove the corproate marketers wrong, complied a very comprehensive book on the magnififcent designs and patterns WOMEN had been creating and executing for so long. The book became and instant success.

This book was sold with a huge box of patterns wiht it. The book is 208 pages long, dust jacket is a bit tattered, but then if you use a book, that is what happnes. The box is packed with intricate patterns to be translated to crewel or embroidery or needlepoint or crosstitch or quilting or...... Fabulous resource for creating anything with step by step instructions, graphs diagrams and charts. Book measures 12' by 9" and the box chocked full of patterns that corrspond to the book measure 12" by 9" by newest almost 3". Shipped as a set via media mail.
