English Watercolour Devil Like newest Illustration

This is one of a few pieces I acquired newest believed to be illustrations for book cover designs by Joyce Higgins who was also a textile and fashion designer in the 1950-60s. This example is painted in watercolour and gouache and has a certain style and presence.

Almost a comedic painting of a devil-like character, the artist has designed the painting like an emblem and it has such decorative appeal.
