Ebonized Madrone Burl Wood Fountain Pen with Black Titanium newest

This wonderful high quality fountain pen was made with madrone burl wood. The metal components are black titanium plated.

Madrone is a North American Pacific Coast tree. The burls are generally cut into fine veneers and are in high demand. The wood in this pen was ebonized and left over from another unrelated project. The effect makes the wood look a little like walnut burl except it has a finer texture typical for madrone. The wood was vacuum stabilized and has been finished with CA (superglue) which creates an acrylic bond on the wood. It was polished and has been buffed with museum quality newest micro crystalline wax to help eliminate those pesky fingerprints.

Black titanium is made with titanium oxide and is not only beautiful, but an extremely durable material. This plating is being used more and more in the jewelry industry. As an interesting historical side note (to me, anyway), these pens have roller clips, a design patented in 1914 and first used by the long defunct Boston Fountain Pen Company and later by the Wahl Eversharp Pen Co. which acquired the former. There are several examples of this type of clip being used in the early 20th century.

The fountain pen comes with a medium no. 6, ruthenium nib made for Dayacom™ by JoWo™, a quality German nib manufacturer. The pen ships in a velvet sleeve as shown. I also include my brochure entitled, "Caring for your New Fountain Pen", a brief how-to guide for using and maintaining your pen. The pen is "postable" meaning the cap will screw onto the end post of the pen while in use if you so desire.
