Product code: Rare 1846-65 newest Metronome De Maelzel
A stunning French metronome in mahogany with fabulous grain. A great early example of quality manufacturing, heavy brass mechanism with bell, quality brass fittings and professionally finished woodwork. This metronome is maker marked on the name plate manufactured by the Maelzel works in France. Johann Nepomuk Maelzel (1772-1838) registered the metronome patent in 1815. In working order with a good tone and reliable beat, there is not a newest lot to mention regarding faults except it is missing the movement weight on the swing pendulum. The original instruction label is still in place on the interior of the door, there are no dents or scrapes worth mentioning. Mahogany is hard wearing, durable and extremely pleasing on the eye. Doing research this is manufactured by Philippe-Nicolas Paquet, low serial number - first 70,000 manufactured (see photo), quality early mechanism, solid brass fittings, moving bell, suggest a high end model, made between 1846-1865.
