Oak Fang-- A very unique wand displaying an odd cavity in the shaft. This wand was hand carved from an red oak beam--the tree itself having been felled for lumber in the creation of a new addition to Hogwarts in the mid 15th century. The beam was found to be very difficult to work and shape, having broken dozens of muggle tools in the hewing process. Eventually the piece of wood was abandoned. Mr. Grey procured the wood for use by Dogwood Wand Company with the suspicion that the difficulty in shaping the beam was not due to the wood itself, but some magical property imbued in it. His assumption was correct. In carving this wand, it was discovered that there was an exceptionally large dragon fang lodged in the wood. Mr. Grey believes the fang to be from a Hungarian Horntail, though this has been disputed by many wizards due to the fact that Horntails have never been spotted in the wilds of North America. Either way, it is agreed upon that the tree likely grew up from the body of the Dragon, planted there by indigenous people as a sign of respect for the dragon.
This wand was shaped with great care to maintain the cavity where the fang was and the magical qualities surrounding it. The wielder of the wand should not be surprised when the wand throws a splinter or two into their hand when it feels that is being neglected or misused--for all his efforts, Mr. Grey could not work out all of the stubborn attributes of the wand. That risk taken, this wand is ideal for the work of an auror and should not be used mainly for everyday wizarding life. If it is, it will quickly grow bored and begin wreaking havoc in the wizard or witch's life. newest
