from an edition of only 200 this hi quality print features a Leopard shark along with a senorita wrasse and kelp bass. This piece is part of a larger series, "the fish tank series" which features Black and white mixed media paintings of various sharks set in high contrast open ocean scenes with a few of their natural surroundings. The stark black background portrays something deep and somewhat ominous while at the same time invoking a feeling of serenity, silence and calm.
The series started with my love of the ocean/nature and sharks. I feel there are newest more obscure sharks aren't featured as much in popular culture so my goal in this series is to portray some of my favorites ALONG with those commonly known to everyone.
the Leopard Shark is a shallow ocean shark that is commonly found off the coast of California. It is a very beautiful shark that when seen in person reveals an almost purple iridescence. maxing out at around 7 feet, the Leopard shark is considered quite harmless.
