Product code: Pump Jacks 4”x4” frames mini newest quilt
This series is based on childhood memories of observing the world through a car window. Hitting emotionally somewhere between a sad song and a happy childhood memory, these small quilted pieces explore constructs of consumption on the landscape. This particular piece features hand-stitched oil pump jacks on reverse appliquéd hills. At least half of the materials are repurposed from second-hand clothing, scraps from other quilters, and upholstery newest remnants. The papier-mâché frames contain recycled paper coated in acrylic medium. The main techniques are hand-embroidery, reverse appliqué, hand-dyeing, and machine-stitching.
