This beauty is circa 1920s and hand sewn, an intricate process requiring great concentration and pattern reading skills. The motif seems to be Native American snake, representing the spirit and transformation, and other symbols of the earth's forces in blue, green, gold, red, and brown glass beads. There is one white bead set in the design.
It is in very good condition except for some strands of beads lost on the bottom fringe. I have left the thread as is. Otherwise, the beads are intact, the lining is in beautiful condition, with a small pocket inside. The drawstring is fine. The bag newest measures 7.25 by 6 inches, with the fringe adding another 1.75 inches, and drawstrings almost 4 inches on each side. The purse has a wonderful tactile quality. It was likely put in a drawer for special occasions and rarely if every used.
