About UZBEKISTAN: Uzbekistan is a remote country located within the inhospitable steppes of Central Asia.
Inhabited since ancient times, it has been influenced by a succession of multiple dynasties and monarchs since its settlement by nomads in 1200 BCE.
The famed old Silk Road trade routes passed through this region, bringing a steady stream of new ideas and goods to Uzbekistan, many of which were incorporated into Uzbek traditions.
Many Uzbek newest rulers sponsored artisans from across the continent to come to Bukhara, Khiva, Samarkand, Tashkent and the Fergana valley. Here, they produced exquisite jewelry of unrivaled quality - a reputation that lingers even today. ©
