newest A vintage crystal sculpture of a viking's head made by Lars Hellsten for Skruf, Sweden. This is an XL version of this series and a signed copy. It can be used as a paperweight or a bookend or just as a ornament and it has a 1960s boho midcentury modern modernist feeling.
It is 12cm (4.72") high, 10cm (3.93") wide and 6cm (2.36") deep and it is rather heavy 1.4kg (3lbs). It is in very good condition.
Skruf glasbruk
Skruf's glassworks is located in Skruv in Lessebo, Sweden. The factory was established in 1897. The production has mainly consisted of tableware and ornamental glass in potassium and full crystal pulp. The glassworks were closed down in 1981. Tableware for households has long been an important part of Skruf's production. When demand fell for tableware glass, Skrufs began to focus more on decorative art glass, inspired by the growing trend of distinct Scandinavian design. Well-known artists and designers active in the glassworks who both made ranges of drinking glass, vases, as well as art objects for interior design were: Bengt Edenfalk, Lars Hellsten and Marianne Westman. All products in Skruf's range are manufactured by hand, down to the smallest details, which by today can be labelled retro and vintage classics from the 1960s and 70s.
