This is a very attractive rectangular Victorian Sewing/Jewellery Box.
In good antique condition.
Made in mahogany, a lovely warm colour with a good grain and patina.
There are 2 lines of inlay to the top and front of the Box, laid in an attractive pattern with the colours red and green still visible.
There is a small piece of yellow paint on the right hand side.
There is a central piece of inlay in similar colours to the top and front of the Box.
There is a small piece of inlay missing to the central piece on the lid.
The brass lock and hinges are in good condition.
There are a few small knocks to the mahogany to the corners with age and use.
These do not detract.
The lid opens to reveal the original attractive newest cream paper lining in a gold diamond pattern.
Some marks and a little wear.
A larger mark to the lining in the bottom of the Box.
A wooden paper covered tray lifts out to reveal the main area of the Box.
The wooden base is in good condition, with the remainder of the paper cover and a hole where a natural knot in the wood occurred.
A lovely decorative item for display and use as a sewing/jewellery box or to store papers/treasures.
