Label History
Mr. Mort was founded in 1952 by Mortimer Goldman. The company produced mid-priced, but fashionable, dresses. Stan Herman, who had worked at various firms in New York, became the designer at Mr. Mort in 1959. At Mr. Mort in the 1960s, Herman's designs were on the cutting edge of fashion; he was one of the first to show dresses over pants.
