Chrysoberyl newest (rare mineral), Twinned, Lac Alaotra, Madagascar

Chrysoberyl is a rare mineral, and this is an excellent example for the species. Alexandrite is also a member of the chrysoberyl family, except that alexandrites display color change. This is a glassy tabular twinned chrysoberyl, and the twinned crystals newest form a pleasant “heart” shape. Wispy inclusions can be observed on this crystal. Overall, this is a fantastic specimen, and would be perfect to add to your collection of fine minerals.
