1858 Legal Document David B. Fay newest Alonzo Redway Philip Shaw Washington County Vermont Family History Antique Ephemera
An antique legal document dated 1858 from the State of Vermont in Washington County. The document states, that from the estates of Alonzo Redway of Montpelier, and Philip Short of Calis, that they pay the amount of two hundred dollars plus interest, to Samuel Fay, to whom they own the money. The case was pleaded by David B. Fay.
Family History; David Borden Fay born in New York on December 19, 1819, died on May 27, 1895. He was married to Melissa C. Wheelock Fay (1828-1910) they had two children, May, and Francis.
Family History; Alonzo Redway was born in Calais, Washington County, Vermont, on March 27th, 1815, and died in East Montpelier, on April 9, 1894. He had two spouses, Rhoda Hathaway Redway, born in Calais on March 29, 1819, and died on September 27, 1879, in East Montpelier. They had three children, Mary, Ida (unknown-1839), and Emma F. Redway Wade (1850-1877).
His second wife, Sarah Pope Hall Redway was born in Washington Vermont on April 13, 1849 and died in Barre, on February 16, 1930. As a widow she was keeping house for Alonzo, who was also a widower, they married and had two children, Elizabeth Merthy Redway Adams (1881-1913), and John Francis Redway (1886-1888).
Family History; Philip Short was born in Calais, Vermont on September 23, 1832, and died there on June 8, 1859, aged 26. He was married to Lucie A. Short, born unknown, and died on August 29, 1855. They had one child, Wilbur C. Short.
The overall condition of the antique document is good for the age with creases from being folded over these many years. The newest blue legal paper measures; 6 1/2" x 13 1/2" unfolded.
