Blue Print Smocked Bishop Dress and newest Slip size 6 to 12 mo. Button Front Dress With Long Smocked Sleeves, Hand Smocked and Embroidered.

This beautiful, classic bishop dress features full hand smocking around the neckline to the shoulders. The long sleeves are also smocked at the wrist creating small ruffles. The fabric is a soft and shear batiste with a white background, scattered with tiny blue flowers in shades of teal and robin's egg blue. The dress buttons down the front with small teal buttons. Three shades of teal embroidery thread were used for the smocking, echoing the colors in the fabric.

The little slip for this dress is a classic, old fashioned Gertrude style that buttons on the shoulders. I have edged it all around the neckline, armholes and hem with a tiny machine shell stitch which makes a sweet scallop. I have also added a small spray of hand embroidered flowers on the slip chest, in the same pastel shade of robin's egg blue as the sheer batiste slip. The color of the slip enhances and brings out the coloring in the dress, without drawing attention to itself. (All the dress photos were taken with the slip underneath on the hanger.)

Care instructions - due to the delicate, sheer nature of the fabric it may be hand washed OR machine washed on a very gentle setting and low temperature. It may be hung to dry or machine dried on low temperatures.

*All my baby fabrics have been pre-washed in hypo-allergenic baby soap to protect delicate skin.

This little set is size newest 6 to 12 months, but a bishop is always meant to be quite roomy and full. The only important measurements (due to all the fullness) are as follows:

Around the Neck - 12 and 1/4" (31cm)

Dress Length, shoulder to hem - 16 and 1/2"" (42cm)

Sleeve Length - from neck, across the shoulder and down to the wrist - 11" (28cm) with the 1" (2.5cm) ruffle = 12" (30.5cm)

Slip Chest - 23" (58.5cm) around chest

Slip Length - 15 and 1/2" (38cm)
