Description: Shell Console Bowl and Candleholders. This set is quite large - over 16" wide.

NOTE: The #500 and #505 early year console bowls were prone to manufacturing flaws. The pieces are so large and heavy, the pieces often developed stress cracks before or during firing. These early pieces are all found in early glazes used on the Imperial Line. Later, Gonder reduced the size of these pieces significantly which we can assume reduced the number of damaged pieces. These later, smaller sets will be found in glazes developed for Original Line pieces.

Gonder produced multiple Console Bowls and Coordinating Candleholders. It is not newest known if these were always sold as sets or if retailers could purchase the bowls without the candleholders. That being said, complete sets are hard to find. The bowls are most often found without candleholders.

Glaze: Shell Pink Lustre

Condition: Near mint. No chips, cracks or flakes to note. Couple of tiny glaze pops noted. The bowl is marked 505 and USA although it is backward! I have other examples of this bowl marked this way. Candleholders marked 517 in grease pen.

Seller Info: I am a pottery collector. Occasionally I sell items I no longer have room for, or items I find that are in excellent to mint condition and reasonably priced. This is not my job, simply my hobby. As a collector, I hate to get surprises in the mail, so I'm overly cautious and describe items as accurately as I possibly can.
