A very unique item with a lot of possibilities! This is a vintage Swank button cover countertop display rack. This piece might have been found in a dress shop, formalwear shop or fabric/notions section of a department store. It has three angled and enclosed shelves. The shelves are 3" deep, have a 1/2" lip on the front and there is about 4" of space between the shelves. The back of the case opens and is held closed with a secure latch. Overall measurements are approximately 16 3/4" tall and 15 1/2" wide. The case alone is 4 1/4" deep and the base of the unit is 9" deep. A few things we want to mention. The latch and hinges have a bit of light rust. There are four spots of adhesive residue where some type of feet or pads were once attached. I recommend you replace those as the hinges have four small metal points that extend through the bottom of the base and you don't want to scratch the surface of whatever you place this on. Inexpensive self adhesive small felt pads or rubber feet can be found at any hardware or home improvement store. This is made of a thick clear plastic and it does have scuffs and scratches as expected. There is one particularly noticeable one of the front of the case, just under 1" long. The case has one crack, on the left side, at the top back corner. It's shown in the photos. The plastic is nice and clear with color yellowing or darkening. So what can you do with this? Well, what do you collect? The angled shelves are perfect for displaying flat items like makeup compacts, lighters, jewelry in open boxes.... Swank made great men's accessories like cuff links and tie clips that are very collectible. What you show off is up to you.
