“El nacimiento de Boriken” is an acrylic on canvas painting. It depicts the moment in which the goddess Atabey witnesses the birth of the island of Puerto Rico or as the tainos called it “Boriken”. The word Boriquen means the great land of the valiant and noble Lord. Atabey was worshipped as a goddess of fresh water and fertility. Boriken is represented as a young woman fertile woman. The sacred tree at the center connects both the spiritual world above with the physical world below. Five butterflies evoke the rebirth of our five senses. The composition is alive as the universe is responding to the miracle of life.

The Tainos called the Island of Puerto Rico "Borikén". The newest Taíno were an Arawak people who were the indigenous people of the Caribbean and Florida. At the time of European contact in the late 15th century, they were the principal inhabitants of most of Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola (the Dominican Republic and Haiti), and Puerto Rico.

All Giclée prints are limited editions of 75 signed and numbered by Obed Gómez. The printing process involves squirting microscopic dots of ink onto a canvas which is hand stretched and ready for your wall. The inks are absorbed slightly and blend to create fine art reproductions that are often indistinguishable from the originals.

In addition, since no screens are used, the prints have a higher apparent resolution than lithographs and a color range that exceeds that of serigraphy. Displaying a full color spectrum, giclée prints capture every nuance of an original and have gained wide acceptance from artists, galleries and museums throughout the world.

All Giclée on canvas prints are mailed in a hard box or hard tubes if printed on paper. All images are copyright and may not be reproduced without permission. Framing and furniture that may be seen in the pictures aren't included.
