Brain oligodendrocyte sculpture on newest podium - Maple on Walnut

Oligodendrocytes' primary function is to help the propagation of information within newest the brain, sheathing axons of neurons.

This myelinating oligodendrocyte was cut out of maple wood with a scroll saw and edges were soften with a router and a lot of sanding. It is about 5 inches tall and sits on a solid walnut podium.

Magnets connect the cell to the podium.
