Product code: WHITEFRIARS Ruby Red Glass Bowl Designed by Geoffrey Baxter Pattern No. 9409 1957 Encased Glass newest Controlled Bubbles

This is a classic piece of mid 20th century design from the Whitefriars glass factory. It was designed by Geoffrey Baxter in 1957 and is pattern number 9409.

The bowl is also known as the 'molar' pattern on account of it looking similar to a tooth. The bowl is manufactured in a ruby red glass that has then been cased in a clear outer layer - within the red glass are small controlled bubbles. The bowl has 4 distinct lobes, much like a molar tooth. To the base there is the usual Whitefriars polished pontil mark.

The bowl measures 4 inches /10cm high and 5 3/4 inches/15cm wide. It weighs in at an impressive 1100 grams. newest
