newest Saint Joan of Arc Statuette in Cast Copper with "Jeanne d'Arc" on the lower front of the statue. "Jeanne d'Arc is French for Joan of Arc. She is sometimes known as jean or Jehanne (Medieval usage), the Maid or Orléan, and Joan the Maiden as well. There is lettering on the back of the statue as well, probably the maker's mold number.

This is a very detailed statuette depicting Joan of Arc in her battle dress with helmet and gloves removed and placed by her side. Joan's hand are folded across her chest and she is holding her sword. Her hair is cut into a short bob, considered quite masculine at the time. One foot is placed forward in a strong gesture. Joan of Arc is famous for defeating the English and having the French King Charles VII crowned at the majestic cathedral in Reims. Alas, the English regrouped and formed a coalition with the French Burgundians to capture Joan of Arc. She was then tried as a heretic and burned at the stake in Rouen. There is a marker in a quiet garden in the center of Rouen marking the spot of her death. Not many years later, St Joan's reputation was rehabilitated and she was canonized as a saint.

Wildly popular to this day, Joan of Arc represents many things to many people: a faith she would not renounce, military courage, female leadership, patriotism and the love of one's country, and more. Movies, books, and numerous works of art commemorate Joan of Arc's unusual life.
