Product code: Newest Zeiss Ikon Contax III
Vintage Zeiss Ikon Contax III with Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 1:2 5cm lens. Made in 1938, the camera body is in excellent condition. The camera is not currently operational, as the shutter curtain is detached, which is a common problem with this model. It is being sold "as is". The Contax III was a marvel of German engineering, and was the first 35 mm camera to incorporate a light meter. It was the primary competitor to the pre-war Leica rangefinders, with many features that were more advanced than the Leicas. Here is a quote from Mike Eckman's review of this model: "The Zeiss-Ikon Contax III needs no introduction as it's one of the most historically important cameras ever made." The full review can be seen on his website at mikeeckman.com newest The lens alone is being sold on eBay for $160-$200. Although it is inoperable, this camera would be a fine addition to any serious film camera collection.
