This uniform is worn by soldiers of the American Continental Army formed shortly after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War, and it's what Deborah Sampson would have worn during her service in the war. Sampson was part of a few women who disguised themselves as men to join the Continental Army and fight in the revolution.
