The mold is very old, dating back to the late 1800's but back then, it was made in clear glass. Somewhere through the years, it was made in colors and in the early 70's a small gift shop in Mattydate, NY ordered these small horse vases to be made by Smith Glass Co. The owner's daughter was named Carol and it became known newest as Carol's Sure Win. The gift shop was named Cherished Glass Works and the logo of CGW inside a heart is on the bottom. Only 660 were ordered. Some were in clear glass and some in frosted, white glass, and some in blue, amber, amberina and red were in carnival finish. This statue, or vase, is amber and the carnival finish is wonderful. It throws the most gorgeous carnival glows with every turn or every shift of sunlight - reds, purples, blues teals.l
