Wonderful example of the folk art signed "De Sela" which translates into "From Sela." There is no tag, but the name is signed on the side of her leg. There is a close up of this. We have seen tags from other Del Sela items that indicate that these are made in the city of Matamoros and the state of Tamanlipas in Mexico.
Unique as a larger piece and a Raggedy Ann figure. The interior appears to be foam and the outside we would say might be paper mache with a shiny look. There is a place in the back right below the apron tie that goes in. We suppose that there was a wire inserted there, either for display purposes as she does not stand well alone or for manufacture purposes. She would be adorable in a Holiday display setting for sure!
Fantastic addition to any vintage De Sela or Mexican Folk Art collection~
Thanks for looking~!
