This is a very special plush toy sample from one of the most influential toys and collectibles manufacturers, KAMAR. This is a ONE OF A KIND item. You won't see another like this anywhere!

What is a prototype or sample?

After a product is designed, the creator sends her design to a factory to bring his idea to life. A designer takes the artist's initial drawings and brings it into 3D form. If the creator likes what she sees, she takes that product to various trade shows to display to large companies who have an interest in carrying her toy line. At this point the prototype becomes a "sample" that the buyer can pick up and touch, though in-effect a prototype and a sample are usually used interchangeably.

Prototypes are the rarest form of the toy. They often have differences in design and color, and many will carry special tags. Some are only partially finished, with "drawn on" features to show what the original piece will look like.

After the designer sells large quantities of their design to companies, the product goes to the manufacturing stage. This can be months, sometimes years after the item is designed! Often, the manufactured example is different than the prototype in key ways.

This piece comes from a very large and special collection of prototypes from the company KAMAR, one of the most important plush manufacturers in America during the decades of the 1960's to the early 1990's. The collection was stored away for many years. I was lucky enough to acquire the collection from PK Kamar's son and daughter-in-law so that we could work together to give you a unique piece of American toy history.

Prototypes are awesome investments! Because they are so rare, and essentially one of a kind, they hold their value through the years, and at times appreciate rapidly as new collectors enter the market.

- Measurements: We try to include a ruler in each photo to show the measurement (in inches) for each item. If you can't find the measurements in the title, photos or description, go ahead and send a convo.

- Condition: This item is used and vintage unless otherwise noted. This means it had another life and was loved by others. Please look carefully at the photos and don't assume perfect condition. Although we do our best to choose items in excellent shape and point out any flaws, there will be signs of use we may not catch and can't describe fully. Condition newest can be subjective and different from person to person! There will be small knicks and dings, for instance, or paint flaws or signs of wear. However, we will make sure you are satisfied with what you bought. We always allow returns and are happy to take additional photos before you buy if needed. Please understand that we want you to be very happy with your purchase and will do everything we can to make sure you're satisfied!

- Content: The photos show you what you will receive. If it is not in the photo, it is not included in the listing, despite the keywords in the title or the original character/accessories of an item. If it is not in the photo, it is not part of the listing.

- Combined Shipping: The cart will automatically calculate the weight of multiple items purchased. This displayed shipping cost shown is accurate! We keep shipping costs at the barest of minimums so we unfortunately cannot lower these costs.
