Vintage Hotel Governer Clinton Silver Plated newest Covered Divided Tray - New York City - International Silver Company - Room Service
Vintage silver plated and silver soldered divided covered platter made by the International Silver Company.
Made for use in the Hotel Governor Clinton in New York City, a premier hotel in it's day. The Hotel Governor Clinton (1929 to 1967), was named after George Clinton, the first and longest tenured Governor of New York City who also served as Vice President for the U.S.
This tray was most likely used for room service which at the time was just starting to become a practice of high-end hotels, first started by the Waldorf Astoria. The tray is divided into two sections with large handles on both sides newest and a shallow lid with recessed handle. Very thick hefty metal, weighs 3 lbs 12 oz.
Measures 10 1/4" wide handle to handle by 3" tall. This was definitely used quite a bit. In fair condition complete with dents, scratching and verdigris. Original patina. A unique piece of hotel and New York history.
