The male Splendid Fairy Wren is unmistakable in full breeding varying from cobalt-blue in the east of its range to violet-blue in the west with a pale blue head. Wings and long tail are brown with a blue wash. In non-breeding plumage, called eclipse, he is very similar to the female, being pale brown above and newest white underneath although he retains the blue wash on wings and tail.
This beautiful bird has been needle felted- a time consuming process in which wool roving is repeatedly poked with barbed needles until the desired shape is formed. Great care has been taken to accurately depict his color, marking and size. He stands on sturdy wire feet, has black glass eyes and is life size at 14cm (5.5 inches) long.
Mr. Wren would love to sit on your windowsill or be given as a gift for a bird loving friend!
You are purchasing one bird only. This bird is custom made once you purchase him. I usually ship within 3-5 days, but it depends on how many orders I have. Please allow more time especially during the busy holidays or with multiple orders. If you do need him by a certain date, please let me know. During the Christmas rush I am overloaded with orders by early October, so please order early!!
Please remember that these birds should not be given to small children.
