Product code: German Royal Coburg Porcelain Candy newest Dish

Description:
This is a very unusual candy dish and an exquisite example of fine German porcelain. It is shaped like a delicate leaf, with its edges rolled as if it's blowing in the wind. This design is carried further on the underside of the dish with leaf veins molded into the porcelain. The inside edges of the leaf are emerald green, with the rim accented by gold. Green carnation-like flowers are outlined in gold and leaves and stamen are also in gold.

Royal Coburg pieces are very rare, especially one as ornate as this. As a result, we haven't been able to date this piece, but based on the shape, style and painting it is late 19th-century. Royal Coburg is a mark used by RS Prussian Porcelain of Germany.

History:
This is from the collection of a pair of sisters who lived in Ashland, Oregon. They were fine artists, china painters, in their own right and collected only unusual and exquisitely designed pieces of porcelain.
