Antique 19th Century English Staffordshire Porcelain Menu Board, Bisque newest with 22 kt Gold Design,Pristine, Maker's Mark Dates to May 3, 1880
This is an incredible piece of 19th century beauty, with such a whimsical feel, by English pottery maker Staffordshire; the maker's mark can easily date this piece to May 3, 1880, and was the third batch of the day. This 5.75" tall by 4" across and 3" deep porcelain menu board was found recently at a San Francisco estate sale, and shows like new. Perfect for "Today's Menu" at the quaint little bistro you and your friends visit every Thursday evening, even more special on your own buffet. This gem can be written on with a grease pencil or dry erase marker (I tried successfully on an inconspicuous spot) and used as designed; the menu pictured in photo #3 was original with the menu board and done in pencil, and was removed by a pencil eraser. The hand painted dinner service along the left side was done in 22 kt gold, as was the frame and around the edge of the board. The built-in easel back has a charming old world flourish and is stable and sturdy. A rare newest find indeed, but even more so in such brilliant, pristine condition. This is the rare opportunity for such a special piece.
