Small Amber 1 1/2” x 3/4” opening
Amber and Brass 1 7/8” x 7/8” opening
Amber with Spike 2 1/8” by 3/4”
This is a collection of three circa 1920s / 30s small Bakelite cigar holders.
Bakelite was the first thermosetting plastic invented in 1907. It was used to create everything from jewelry to radio cases, cigar holders, toys and more.
These cigar holders are getting harder to find and I stumbled across a collection of six of these on a picking trip to Virginia. newest I've broken the set into three larger size holders and these three smaller ones.
The "spiked" holder is rare and is designed to puncture the end of the cigar so cutting wasn't necessary. The "custard and brass" bakelite piece is a bit rarer in terms of the color and the clear red amber piece is also fairly rare.
If you're interested in purchasing the entire collection of six pieces, get in touch and let's make a deal!
These three are offered at a very reasonable price of $125.00 for the set of three. I've seen these sell for upwards of $50 to $75 a piece. I think if you collect tobacciana, or cigar holders, or bakelite, these are a great addition to your collection!
